Unless you have just arrived back from the moon you will have heard of this “new” online platform called Pinterest. It is simply bring an old tradition of creating scrapbooks or pinboards to the online community. You can “pin” images that you like either by uploading them from your computer or things you find on other websites by using the Pinterest bookmarklet. By grouping the information into collections or “boards” other people can either follow you or “re-pin” the information.
Pinterest Glossary
A Pin – this is an image that you add
Pinboard – a collection of images grouped into themes eg. furniture or travel
Pinning – this is what you do as part of the Pinterest community
Repin – where you repost a pin that another person on Pinterest pinned.
Pin it Button – you can put this button on your website to encourage your visitors to pin the information they like so others can see it on Pinterest
Pinner – this is the person who is sharing the information.
